Vermont
Vermont has created a state wide understanding of personalized learning. The state believes this is needed to have consistent education geared toward personalized learning across the state. Vermont also have a list of five essential attributes to s personalized learning.
Personal Relationships
* students and staff have mutual respect for one another, students feels connected to at least one trusted adult, educators know their students’ interests, goals, and academic levels, and students experience higher levels of achievement.
Flexibility
* learners have opportunity to learn through multiple combinations of high quality academic learning to guide them to graduation and prepare them for post gradute success.
Learner Profiles
* Each learner has current documentation of their individual strengths, needs, motivations, and goals to help guide their education path/pace.
Proficiency Based Progression
* Instruction is based on standards of the state of Vermont. Students will work toward well defined goals, and on their independent paths. All school must have academic and behavioral supports is in place to assist all students in working toward attainment of these goals.

* Learners are held to very high standards and are responsible for their own learning. With assistance from teachers, learners will design their educational plans and will demonstrate mastery through self guided project based assessments.
